Getting Lots Done !

Well, I can hardly believe I'm posting something for the second time today.

As promised, another illustration from The Quiet Bear, by Gretchen Leary.  I really got a lot done this afternoon and was able to finish another illustration!  Now, I'm tired and I think I'll take a break.  It's time for a nice cup of tea and a cookie,  if only I had a cookie.  Well, perhaps not eating cookies is really for the best.  At least for now.

Subway Ride

The work continues on The Quiet Bear.  Today, I finished the illustration showing the family riding the subway on their way home from the park.  I had to do a lot of research on subways and what they look like inside.  I have never taken a ride on a subway.  Oh wait, I take that back.  I did ride a subway in Scotland a couple times, but they call it riding the Tube.  I am told it is not the same as a New York subway ride.  I hope I find out someday.  But, for now, I'm pretty happy just puttering around in Albany, Oregon.
I'm almost finished with the next page.  I'll post as soon as I can.

Love

Sending a little bit more love out there to all my peeps!  These are a couple more Valentine cards available at Gallery Calapooia.  Done in cut paper!
Now, back to the drawing board.  Only 5 more illustrations to go, and I'll be finished with The Quiet Bear.

For your Valentine

Valentines day is right around the corner!  You can get one of my hand made cut paper Valentine cards at Gallery Calapooia, only $6.00 each.

I think this cat has got his eye on some Valentine of his own, or he's waiting for that someone special to come along.  He also wears his heart on his collar, what a catch!

I'm on a Roll !

Well, like the heading says, I'm on a roll!  I guess when you keep painting, you get a bit faster.
I'm not getting interrupted, which helps a ton.  Well, my dog Lois barks at the mailman everyday, but I'm getting used to that.  I thought Lois didn't like the mailman.  Turns out, she loves him, she just wants to talk to him.  The mailman told me this, so it must be true.  I don't think they are allowed to lie.

I'll post more illustrations for The Quiet Bear as I finish them.  So, stay tuned.

Another One Finished!

Working really hard to finish up the last of The Quiet Bear Illustrations.  Here is another one.  The two friends watching leaves fall.  Kind of nice thing to do with a friend.

A Few More Flowers

Seems like I'm always waiting for paint to dry.  So, once again...a few more flowers to share.
These were done a couple days ago while I waited for art to download.  By the way, I ended up using Dropbox to send the large files to my publisher, and it worked!

Anyway, hope you all have a nice weekend.  It's suppose to rain here...a lot.  I hope I get lots of painting done since I'll be inside.

These cut paper cards are available at Gallery Calapooia and they are only $6.00 each.

Meeting a Friend

Here is another illustration from The Quiet Bear by Gretchen Leary.  This shows the little girl when she first sees the bear in the park.
This was painted in watercolor on 140 lb. cold press paper.  The original is about 8x8 in size.

Only 8 more illustrations to go...I think?

New Cards for the Gallery

While waiting and waiting and waiting for my artwork to download (or maybe it's upload) to some web site that my publisher asked me to use, I got a few more cut paper cards made for the gallery.  I'm part of a co-op gallery here in Albany Oregon called, Gallery Calapooia.
The bad news is, my illustrations did not download. After 4 hours !  Pooh!!!  The good news, these nice little cards that I can take to the gallery the next time I work.

So now, I'm using a different method of sending the illustrations to my publisher.  Fingers crossed, I sure hope this works.

Ready for Spring

Okay, the holidays are over...I'm looking for Spring!

I did this cut paper while waiting for my watercolor paintings to dry.  I find that I really have to find something else to do when I'm painting or else I dive in too soon and ruin the whole thing.  So, this is one of my timeouts.  She looks like she might be a bit moody.  Hmmm?  Wonder where that comes from?
I was thinking of selling her as a card at the gallery, but now I think she needs to be in a little frame.
I must say, this cut paper stuff is very addictive.  You should try it!
