Well, my art show was a success! Gallery Calapooia held a reception last Friday August 14th. So many people showed up. It was really very nice.
Here is one of the front windows at the gallery.
I sold several pieces of art and all of my cards! So, I have been making a few more to take down to the gallery.
I came across some map type paper recently. You might notice the use of my map paper in these new cards.
Flowers. I have to make flowers, they're just fun to make.
Tea time. Another favorite pastime of mine.
I'm not a coffee drinker. But, I just felt like making a little cup of coffee.
And my favorite, little boy sailing. Probably getting ready to throw a line in the water!

A Dress made of Flowers
Well, as you can see I like cutting up paper and gluing it together. I like it a lot. I was inspired to do this piece one day last week. On my way to get a bit of lunch for myself, I saw a young girl on the street with her mother, I think. Anyway, she was twirling and showing off a new dress. At least that's what I thought as I drove past. This is the sketch I did, very light, I hope you can see it.
After lunch I came back to my studio and made the sketch. Then after I started working on this I realized I wanted her dress to be covered or made of flowers. This is what I came up with.
I think it's kind of fun.
Illustration done on 140 lb. watercolor paper, using acrylic paint for the background and various scrapes of paper. I use Tombow liquid glue which drys clear and is acid free and archival.
