It's Almost Christmas!

Hooray!  All my children will be home for the holidays!
If I could sing, I would.  But, I can still dance.  So, let there be dancing!
I hope everyone has a blessed and happy Christmas and New Year.  Take care.

Friends

Here are some snowmen friends I created a little while ago.

I'm so glad it's Friday!  I still have a ton of things to do in order to be ready for Christmas.  I will have my parents and my two wonderful children as well as my son in law on Christmas morning.  Well, I think the kids show up a couple days before Christmas.
I can't wait.  Maybe, I'll bake some cookies tonight!

As I get ready for the holidays I will continue to pray for the people in the Connecticut shooting.

Have a nice weekend everybody.  Take care.

The Stockings were Hung

I've been busy decking the halls at my house.  Wish it looked like this.  I don't even have a cat anymore.  I do have a wonderful little dog named Lois, who is very interested in the tree and anything Christmas.  She loves the holidays.  Lois is a girl after my own heart.  Well, the truth is, I gave Lois my heart long ago.
Hope everyone is enjoying the season!

The Wonder of Snowmen

And the Christmas cheer continues!  I wish decorating my home for the holidays was as easy as posting on my blog.  No decorating tonight for me.  It's party, party, party time.  Birthdays come but once a year, (thank goodness), and today it is mine.  So, enjoy the day everyone, only 2 weeks until Christmas!

The Big Guy

He's coming to town!
Little known fact, Santa loves pears and pear trees.  However pears are very seasonal so, he has to stick to eating all those cookies to stay strong.  Go Santa!

Meet The Mrs.

She loves cookies and red is her favorite color!  Oh, wait that's me!

Little Angel

Here is another design I did not long ago.  Kind of goes along with the snowman I posted a few days ago.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Here it is!  Wish I knew how to post this to the Watercolor Wednesday site.  That will be my goal today.  Wish me luck.

Tis the Season

It's so cold outside.  My poor feet are freezing!  Maybe I need new shoes.  That's an idea I can get behind.
Well, since it's so cold, or at least it feels cold to me.  I thought I would post a bit of holiday cheer. I think his feet look nice and toasty in those fancy boots.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Busy Girl

I finished all my paintings for the 4th Annual Melissa Saylor Holiday Show!  50 paintings!  Bam!  The show will be at a lovely restaurant in Albany called Sybaris.
Now I just have to name them come up with a price list and hang the show on Saturday.  I have been a very busy girl.  Just sayin.

Shy

For those of you who know me well, you know that my printer/scanner has been giving me fits. I have been talking, complaining and just plain screaming about it.  I'm normally a very calm person.  But, this machine has really tried my patience.  Well, this morning I came into my studio, talked nicely to my printer and tried for the 4000th time to scan a new illustration, and it worked!?!?  I shall not question why, but enjoy the little miracle taking place in my studio.  So, here is an illustration I recently finished for Illustration Friday.  This topic was a few weeks ago I think. Guess I better get all the work done that I can while the printer angels are smiling down on me.

Moving Forward

I've been working on an illustration for the banner on Illustration Wednesdays, in which I take part.  As I've been drawing I've been thinking about this past week.  A week full of family and food and sadly a bit of sadness.  My Aunt June passed away on November 16. Her funeral took place this past Saturday.   I will miss her.  She was fun and creative and gentle.  Well, she was a lot of things.  But, mostly she was a wonderful human being who lived on this earth and and while she was here she made it a better place.  Thank you Aunt June.

So Cathy, Barb, Bob, Amy, Davey, David, Jaden, and Jazmine, if you are reading this. This one is for you.  xx missy

I know it's early

Yes, it's too early for Christmas stuff to be out.  But, I guess it's not too early for me to be working on Christmas art.  Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.  I think this might become fabric.  Kind of fun!

Yet, another drawing

I need to clean this up a bit, but I think my life drawing classes are helping.  I'm having a wonderful time going to these classes every Tuesday night, so I guess that's a good thing.
I have also just found a critique group. It is a group of writers and illustrators.  So, I'm excited about that.  I'll keep you posted!

This is my Illustration Friday artwork.
I might have posted this once before.  Sorry, if I'm repeating myself.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey, if it rains a little, I think I'll just go stomp in a few puddles.

Geraniums

I think geraniums might be my favorite flower.  Such a happy flower.  This is another new painting.  But this one is special.  It was one of three paintings I submitted to a juried show coming up next month and this one got it.  One out of three isn't that bad, I guess.

Hi There

Just did a fast little illustration.  Very simple.  But, sometimes those are the best kind.
Have a nice weekend everyone.

Reading

Here is another little painting I did of a young boy reading in the shade of a big tree.  I think I'll go look for a little shade myself.

Friends

Well, at least I think they're friends.  Little watercolor of Roger my cat and his friend Oliver the owl.  There must be a story here.

Drawing Pictures

I've been having a very nice day.  Drawing pictures all day.  And I had tater tots for lunch.  Not healthy but very good.  Here is a sample of one of my drawings.

Off to the Beach!

In just a couple days my husband and I will be heading off to South Carolina's Edisto Island.  I love the beach.  We are meeting up with my cousin Robin and her husband for a week of fun and food at the Beach!  Did I tell you I love the beach.  Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the visit.  The last time we visited Edisto was about a month before I was diagnosed with cancer. I was so tired and didn't know what on earth was wrong with me.  But, now that is all over.  Thank the good lord.
After we leave South Carolina we are flying off to Ft. Lauderdale to visit our dear friends Paul and Charlie.  We have not seen them in years and I need to talk and laugh with my buddies.  I am a lucky girl to have great friends and family.  I will have my little travel watercolor kit with me.  Lets hope I paint a bit.  But, I'm not promising anything.  I've been known to just walk on the beach and read, all day, everyday. (not at the same time)  I'll report back to blog world when I return.

Working a Little

I'm still playing with my new pencils and paint.  Sadly, I keep drawing myself.  Note to self...stop it!  Anyway, I'm sure all of you get lost in your own world as you are creating.  A guess I must see myself in an uncorked bottle.   Hmmmm wonder what that means?  At least I took the cork out of the bottle so I could breath. As you can see, I think about various things that make me happy.  Have a nice week everyone!

Walking

It's been awhile since my last post.  Sorry about that.  Life gets busy sometimes.  I get lazy sometimes too. Anyway, I did a little illustration of my alter ego and my dog Lois taking a walk in the fall leaves.  I am trying out my new paints and pencils along with working with cold press watercolor paper.  This was done in Gouache and Caran d'Ache Luminance colored pencils.  These pencils are so nice.  Love them.  It was a fun experiment.  I think I'll keep playing around with them for a bit.  Hope all is well with everyone.  Take care.

Weekly Update

The biggest update this week has been my children's birthdays.  My son Todd turned 29 on Tuesday January 24 and my lovely daughter's birthday is today!  She is 26.  For those of you who know me, you already know how gaga I am over my kids.  They are the best thing that I ever did.  Getting married to their father was a big deal too.  Although, I have almost no control of that man.  I do love him very much... I must, I've been married to him for almost 31 years.  Holy cow!  Here is the thing, I can't believe I've been married 31 years or that I have kids 29 and 26 years old.  Were oh were does the time go?  Seems like yesterday that they were running around the house like wild animals.  Not really, they were pretty good kids.  Although they did have their moments.  Anyway,  Happy Birthday you two.  Love is not a big enough word to express how I feel about the two of you.

Ahhh Friday

Well, I have not posted in such a long time.  I'm a little ashamed of myself.  But, I'll get over it.  I don't know what I've been doing but, I've been busy, I know that.
Living in Oregon, many of you may think I'm under water.  Some folks are indeed having problems around here but, I'm okay.  Just wet.
Anyway, I think my fabric company...Quilting Treasures is going to go ahead and make my back to school line a reality.  Nice news to start the new year.  Although I will know for sure when I see it in stores, and that won't be for awhile.  So, I thought I would show you a little bit of it.  This is the border design, created in watercolor on windsor newton 140 lb. cold press paper.  Have a nice weekend everyone.
