Hi, Nice to meet you

Here is the second of four figures I'm designing for the carousel.  This is kind of a combination of two people.  Both local business men.  I sure hope the sponsors like him.  I don't get paid until they give the okay.
This was created in watercolor on 140 lb paper.
What's that in his left hand, you ask?  Why,  it's an abacus.

First Look

Here is the first look at a design I just finished for our community carousel project.  Someone else designed all the wonderful animals but, they wanted me to design some historic figures that will stand around the inside area.  Does that make sense?  Anyway, this is the pioneer woman.  Mrs Lemons.  She was a postmistress.  Next, up a local merchant.
I kind of like her.
There is no way I could have taken on this job if I had not been continuing to take a life drawing class every Wednesday evening.  If you want to draw and paint people you have to know how they are put together.
I'll post a picture of the merchant as soon as I finish.

Quick Sketch

This is a quick little sketch I did last night.  I've been trying to draw something in the evenings while I sit around watching t.v.
Not as easy as you might think, since Lois my wonderful dog friend was sitting on my lap.
Anyway, here is the drawing I did last night.
I snapped this photo of my sketch book page with my phone, so not that great of a photo.  But, you can see it.  She just looks at me with such love in her eyes, or maybe that's hunger?

New Painting

Here is a little painting I just finished.   If you know me well, you know that I love the beach.  Love the  west coast beach, love the east coast beach.  Just give me a beach and I'm a happy girl.
This is called "Path to the Beach"  It's a watercolor created on 140 lb. cold press paper using windsor newton paint.  This painting is not large about 6x6 size.  It will be larger once it's framed.

Have a great day everyone!
Thanks for stopping by.

Book Cover Idea

Well, I have been working my little fingers to the bone.  Pretty much worked non-stop on this design so the author could have something to place on kickstarter.
If anyone is interested they can go to the link shown below.

So Gretchen Leary has written a really lovely story and wants me to illustrate it for her.  Lucky me! As I've stated in earlier posts I have been working on sketches and a dummy book layout.  But, for Gretchen to get going with her kickstarter  I needed to paint the cover of the book.  I'm sure this will change as we go along but for now it is the cover art.
This kickstarter thing is new to me, but very interesting.  So, stay tuned and I'll keep telling you about this amazing journey!

Valentines

I took a little break from working on a lovely children's book to play with some cut paper Valentines.
